I did it! below 7 hours. 6:40:57 to be exact. I make sure I finish with 7, but was actually aiming for 6. my first 21km was pretty good, then I got really really really hungry. notice the emphasis. it wasn’t normal hungry, but really hungry. then I was managing only a slow jog and walk until I get some energy shotz and banana, but then my body was pretty much too tired and wearing out to keep running consistently.
I left knee hurts like crazy now. and there’s this weird lump below my left sole. but hey, I am actually considering doing it again next year! (:
I ran alone this year. myself. I saw a lot of people running themselves too, not sure if there are other people around supporting them. but frankly, besides each individual’s reason to run a marathon, especially for the non-athletic, it’s really a very big challenge. mentally.
I was just pushing myself from about the 18km mark, just keep chanting to repeating to myself “you can do it” and again at the 32km mark. I was basically banging the walls then. and the thoughts of giving up comes easy and free. the inspirational messages at each kilometer mark does help somewhat. seriously.
my favorite “pain is temporary, pride is forever” I completed a marathon alone, in 6 hours 40 minutes and 57 seconds.
now, seriously considering below 6 hours next year. if I am crazy enough to sign up again, I hope!
