food for thought

witness one disturbing scene today that got me thinking.
i must have had at least one buffet dinner every month this year, and never once did i thought, so where do the cooked food that didn’t reach the diner’s table go. well, today i witness where they went.

had dinner buffet today at marina mandarin melt the world cafe today. we stayed beyond their closing hours to discuss some business stuff. our table was just beside one of the food bar. and so i witness the wait stuff, throwing all the unserved food into a tray, and he do it so nonchalantly, giving this obvious impression that he have been doing this all too regular.

that is a lot of food thrown away on a daily basics! it really set me wondering. there are so many buffet restaurants, in singapore alone. and all the food that’s thrown away every night, how many family it can feed somewhere else!!

i know that i am going to just ignore this fact and continuing patronising buffet. ya, it’s like this whole article got no meaning, but really, how can we fix this issue? food wastage is such a serious know issue in f&b, while the world is coping with food supply shortages, over fishing and all the other food supply problems that’s affecting so many wildlife eco.

what can we really do to fix this problem?
