i never liked businesses like nuffnang or gushclouds. but i must share, i love what The Deck have.
essentially, they are the same business. selling ads on blogs.
but first, on why i never liked nuffnang and gushclouds. they create jobs for people who don’t deserve it. the ads they sell don’t really value their advertisers, and many are doing so simply because they are lost and my boss say we need to have online presence. most of the time, i can be certain the boss don’t even really understand what online presence really is. to them it’s like, “AH 100,000 people see my brand online”, “cool, that’s our online presence!”. it creates an environment online for this region where bloggers take blogging as their full time jobs, writing things we don’t really want to read about, sharing things which really, we do not need to know. i will say that there are bloggers whom are really professional in the sense that they are really blogging and that it’s a real platform for them to share their thoughts, but really the numbers is so small in this region today.
and then, because of so many “professional” bloggers who don’t have a real job (and will be really offended if i say that blogging is not a real job), they create armies of keyboard warriors. people whom well, just sit behind their keyboard and fight comment battle of pointless things. admittedly i was someone like this. someone which i grew out of which i realise was very naive and stupid of myself.
paying people to blog and letting this be their sole income is just wrong. at so many level.
i read an average of 20 to 30 blog post everyday, almost a good 90% are bloggers from americans, and are usually tech or finance related. these bloggers are either freelancer, have a full time job or own their own small businesses. in their blogs they share about current affairs that closely related to their interest. sometimes they share about their life. and they run ads too! powered by The Deck ads network. go to their website, and you will understand why i love them and have to agree with the way they work. of course there’s a small population of bloggers who does not have a full time job. these people have income supplemented by their family. they are house wife, retired, or community volunteers. they share their family experiences, their travel experiences, and their life. all with a good intend of sharing their own experience. but of course there’s some who just blog because they love the attention, and eventually advertising works for them too. nothing wrong with these at all, as long as you do not call yourself a professional blogger when you really isn’t.
a professional blogger write and share things responsibility, they share their opinion on matters with wisdom, and take responsibility for things they write and share.
in singapore, we post cute photos of ourself and maybe even pimp our kid to build mindless followers. we share what we eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and because we influence, we guess these are places you may want to check out next. we share clothes which we bought. it inevitable creates a community, a society which is extremely unhealthy for any nation.
oh what even! such a depressing post to end 2014. now i have to write something else to end it good!
